The other day I looked at Connor and realized how much he is growing up!
Today I have Trey & Lilly home sick, so I thought while they are resting I'd sit down and write a posting all about Connor.
Connor Bentley was born Oct 7th, 1996 at American Fork hospital. He has the initials of my GrandpaT that passed away a couple years before he was born. It also happened to be Jesse's grandfather's initials too!
He was a good, happy baby. As a toddler he loved Star Wars and Seasame Street. He had all the little action figures and would always line them up any where we were. He has always been very smart and loved to learn about anything.
Connor is responsible, caring, thoughtful, creative, a great Lego builder, funny, sensitive, honest, an avid reader, musical, helpful, the class clown, and courageous. Connor gets straight A's in school and we are very proud of him!
Connor was diagnosed Oct. 23rd, 2006 with type 1 diabetes. We stayed with him 4 days at Primary Children's with alot of learning from dietitians and doctors. He was so brave and learned right away how to give himself his 4 daily shots and fingerpokes to check his bloodsugars. From the beginning he has taken a positive attitude.
In Dec. we took classes and recorded his food intake and bloodsugars to qualify to get the insulin pump. The pump looks like a pager and attaches to a tiny tube that connects to him through a site that's under his skin. He changes the area its placed every 3 days. He dials in the amount of carbs he's eating and it automatically tells him the dosage he needs and then he pushes a button to deliver the insulin. He loves it! No more daily shots and carrying around his "man bag"!
Connor is currently taking piano at The Music School. He is learning alot and is getting good at playing with both hands and reading music. He's also been in karate, soccer, baseball and basketball, but he won't pick a favorite sport yet because he hasn't tried football.
Connor likes anything Lego's, Pokemon, hanging out with his friends, Disneyland/world, Indiana Jones, fishing, Lagoon, magic tricks, playing videogames, swimming, and Harry Potter.
Connor loves his brother and sisters. He has been a great help with Lilly and likes to be Trey's third parent!
We are very grateful and proud to have Connor in our family! We love you Connor!

That is such a great thing to do. It's funny, my Connor has a lot of the same likes as yours. Maybe it's the name.
Awesome post. You are a great mom for recognizing all the good things in a pre-teen!
